Beach Chair & Umbrella Rentals at Oceanside Pier

Skip carrying chairs from the car. Pick up beach chairs and an umbrella at our kiosk and set up on the sand next to the Oceanside Pier. Two chairs all day are $30, and an umbrella is $8 with any chair rental, any length.

Rent for 4 hours or all day. Government-issued photo ID required as a deposit.

What’s included

• No payment to book online, so it’s free to cancel a reservation. Payments at the kiosk follow our refund policy.
• Renters must be 18 or older and show a government-issued photo ID, which we hold as a deposit and hand back when the gear comes back.
• Please sign the waiver before pickup. It takes about 2 minutes.
• You get a 15-minute grace period when you return the gear.

Hours

Memorial Day – Labor Day: open daily, weekdays 10–5, weekends 9–6 PT.

The rest of the year: open on some weekends, weather and demand permitting.

How to Set Up a Beach Umbrella in the Wind

1. Check which way the wind is blowing before you pick your spot.
2. Twist the pole back and forth into the sand to make a hole about 2 feet deep.
3. Set the pole in the hole, tilted slightly into the wind.
4. Pack the sand back around the pole and stomp it down firmly.
5. Open the umbrella and tilt the canopy so the top faces into the wind, so the wind presses it down instead of lifting it.
6. If gusts pick up, close the umbrella. A loose umbrella can tumble down the beach and hurt someone.

Safety at Oceanside

• Swim near an open lifeguard tower, and ask the lifeguard about conditions before you go in.
• If a rip current pulls you away from shore, don’t fight it: swim parallel to the beach until you’re out of it, then head in, or float and wave for a lifeguard.
• Stay well clear of the pier pilings. Currents can pull you toward them and they’re crusted with sharp mussels.

Multi-day rentals

Multi-day rentals are available by request for 2 or more items, with a 3-day minimum. Check “Multi-day request” on the reservation form and list your gear. We’ll meet you at the kiosk with it, even on days we’re closed, and again when you return it.
